Nearly half of Pakistan’s population reports buying used clothing over the past year, according to a recent Gallup & Gilani Pakistan survey.
The poll found that 48% of respondents purchased second-hand items—such as sweaters and coats—from local Landa Bazaars.
The survey, which was conducted nationwide from March 7 to 22, 2025, used Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) and included 779 participants from both urban and rural areas across all four provinces.
When asked if they had bought clothing from second-hand markets in the last year, 48% said yes, 51% said no, and 1% were either unsure or declined to answer.
Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, affiliated with the Gallup International Association, noted that these results reveal the widespread appeal of second-hand clothing in Pakistan, where affordability and necessity often take precedence over buying new apparel.
Experts point out that the local Landa Bazaars have long served as a practical and economical option for many, especially during colder months.
Offering a broad selection of imported used garments at much lower prices, these markets remain popular among shoppers looking to stretch their budgets.
