The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has achieved a historic milestone by registering 4,065 companies in July 2025, the highest number ever recorded in a single month.

This, according to the statement released on Wednesday, surpasses the previous record of 3,609 registrations set in May 2025, reflecting the success of the SECP’s facilitative policies and strategic outreach initiatives.

Of the total incorporations, an overwhelming 99.9 per cent were processed digitally, pushing the overall number of registered companies in Pakistan to 262,309. The total paid-up capital for new incorporations in July stood at Rs4.96 million.

Private limited companies accounted for 57 per cent of the new registrations, followed by single-member companies at 39 per cent. The remaining 4.0 per cent included public unlisted companies, not-for-profit organisations, companies limited by guarantee and limited liability partnerships.

The IT and e-commerce sectors led the way with 862 new incorporations, followed by trading (530), services (468), and real estate and construction (398). Other active sectors included tourism and transport, food and beverages, education, marketing, mining, textiles, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, engineering, cosmetics and healthcare.

In a promising sign of global investor confidence, 96 newly registered companies received foreign investment from a wide range of countries. The SECP also issued 60 licences across regulatory domains in July, including five in capital markets, one in insurance, two to non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), and 52 to not-for-profit associations.

Building on momentum from its recent Registrars Conference, the SECP is launching a nationwide awareness campaign to promote company incorporation, highlighting benefits such as limited liability, legal identity, enhanced credibility, scalability, tax advantages and improved access to finance.
