The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has finalized the design for new currency notes as part of a broader plan to modernize the country’s banknotes. The announcement was made by SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad during a press conference held on Wednesday in Karachi, where he also addressed the decision to maintain the current interest rate.
Governor Ahmad revealed that the design for the new currency notes has been selected and was developed by an international expert. “The process of introducing new currency notes is progressing, and a final design has been chosen,” he stated.
However, the governor clarified that the actual rollout of the redesigned notes will commence only after formal approval is granted by the federal cabinet. The move is part of ongoing efforts to improve the security features and aesthetics of Pakistan’s currency.
The introduction of redesigned banknotes is expected to enhance anti-counterfeiting measures and align Pakistan’s currency with international standards. More details will be shared with the public following cabinet approval.
It is important to note that the designs for the new currency notes have not yet been made public. Any images circulating online, including the ones featured in some media articles, are from a previous art competition organized by the SBP and do not reflect the final approved design.
